Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy applies to both Ember Crown Studio products — EmberCrown: Twilight Watch (the "Game") and PureReader (the "Reader") — as well as the official website crownofembers.com.

The two products collect very different sets of data. Please read sections 3 and 4 respectively.

2. Official Website

When you submit a subscribe or notify-me form, we collect the email address, phone number, or Apple ID you provide, in order to deliver gift codes or announce a product launch.

We also automatically collect your IP address, device type, browser information, and visit time for security and traffic statistics.

The sponsored recommendation unit in the page footer is served by Adsterra; it may use cookies or device identifiers to display personalized ads.

3. Data Collected by the Game

  • Account and progress: the guest identifier generated on first launch, stage progress, talent and equipment data.
  • Game Center: if you sign in to Game Center, we read your player identifier for leaderboards and achievements.
  • Device and app information: device model, OS version, app version, and crash logs.
  • Advertising: rewarded video and interstitial ads are served by Google AdMob, which may collect the advertising identifier (IDFA) for delivery and frequency capping.
  • In-app purchases: transactions are handled by Apple. We only verify receipts through the App Store Server API and never see your payment card details.

4. Data Collected by the Reader

The Reader is local-first by design: the full text of any document you import stays inside the device sandbox and is never uploaded to our servers. We cannot read it.

To understand usage and diagnose compatibility issues, we collect the following:

  • Anonymous device identifier: the system-provided identifierForVendor, used only to distinguish individual devices and measure activity. It is not linked to your identity.
  • Device and app information: hardware model, iOS version, app version.
  • Usage summary: number of documents on the shelf and cumulative reading time.
  • Document metadata: title, format, file size, character count, and chapter count at import time — never the body text.
  • Push credential: if you allow notifications, we obtain an APNs device token through Apple Push Notification service, used solely to deliver reminders to that device. It is never logged or displayed, and you can disable it in system settings at any time.

This telemetry is never used for advertising and is never shared with third parties. The Reader currently contains no third-party advertising SDK. If a future version introduces advertising, we will update this policy in advance and obtain your consent before enabling it; declining never affects your ability to read.

5. How We Use This Data

  • Provide, maintain, and improve product features.
  • Deliver gift codes and announce product launches.
  • Understand usage to plan future updates.
  • Diagnose crashes and compatibility issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

6. Third-Party Services

The two products rely on different third-party services:

  • Website: Adsterra (advertising), Cloudflare (CDN and security).
  • The Game: Apple Game Center, Google AdMob, Apple App Store Server API.
  • The Reader: currently only Apple-provided system capabilities, with no third-party data recipients. Any future advertising integration will be listed here and announced in advance.

Each service maintains its own privacy policy — for example Google's advertising technologies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and Adsterra at adsterra.com/privacy-policy.

7. Data Retention

  • Subscribe and notify-me records: retained until you request deletion or the product is discontinued.
  • Game account data: retained until you request deletion, then removed within 30 days.
  • Reader telemetry: retained until you request deletion, then removed within 30 days.
  • Server access logs: retained for 90 days for security auditing.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about you. The path differs by product:

  • The Game: email us with the player ID shown in the app.
  • The Reader: email us with the device identifier shown on the Me screen — or simply uninstall the app, after which no further telemetry is sent.
  • Website subscription: email us to unsubscribe; we process within 7 business days.

9. Children's Privacy

Neither product targets personal information collection at children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it after verification.
